What's a creative studio? Mostly, it means I don't do just one thing (that would bore me). Mother Wit encompasses copywriting, graphic design, and creative consultation.

The old-fashioned phrase "mother wit" means "common sense." Mother Wit Writing and Design has been driven by its name since I started it in 1983. My business offers innovative solutions to communication challenges — on deadline, at a reasonable cost.

But Mother Wit comprises a wide range of other creative endeavors, the activities that feed my soul and keep my mind flexible — poetry, short stories, essays, songs, origami, and tinkering with this website. And, after many years of leading workshops, I'm particularly gratified that my students produce their own vivid writing in many forms.
