I founded Mother Wit Writing and Design in 1983, but have worked as a graphic designer since 1975. Among other accomplishments, my creative studio has won the West Virginia Communicators Best of Show award and several First Place awards from the National Federation of Press Women. Please contact me for information about fees or to request a cost estimate for your next design project. Here are images from a few recent design projects:
Sue Julian and Barbara Steinke, the founders of Laotong Yoga, have brought the healing power of yoga to incarcerated women and men in several West Virginia prisons. Their work is universally praised by inmates, staff, and administrators.
For more than ten years, I have designed logos, posters, postcards, and programs for this women’s chorale.
ArtWorks West Virginia
For a number of years, I have designed this quarterly magazine for the West Virginia Division of Arts, Culture and History. It contains news about the state agency’s arts programming and information for individual artists.
Water Gap Retreat
Water Gap Retreat is a small, friendly campground for tents and RV camping near Elkins, West Virginia.
Flying Pig Improv
This logo was designed for the immensely creative and talented improv artist and teacher, Jessie Gray. She thinks the pig in flight is a good metaphor for her work (and play). In her own words: “I'm crazy about them. Flying Pigs. They represent the impossible becoming possible.”
Fortissimo Piano Studio
This logo embodies the grace and fluidity of the music made by a professional pianist and teacher with many years of experience.
Monongahela Forest Hiking Guide
The 9th edition of this popular guide, edited by Hugh Rogers, has been redesigned and updated with new, full-color maps and plenty of gorgeous color images by photographer Kent Mason.
